We can't wait to meet you!
No matter if this is your first time visiting or you've been here before, you are welcome!

Whether you have been coming for 50 years or just found us today, you belong here! We have been firmly planted on the Southside of Des Moines since 1949 when we were meeting in a movie theater. The Southside has certainly changed a lot in those almost 75 years. But our commitment to serving the Southside has not.

What is it like?

We are a small church with a big heart. We want you to feel welcome when you walk in the door, but we will try our best to not overwhelm you. Grab a bulletin on your way into the sanctuary and you will be able to follow along with our entire service as we sing hymns, hear the Word, and celebrate Holy Communion. Our hope is that you feel God's presence as we worship together.

What about my kids?

We love children and welcome them in our worship services. We have chilren's bulletins and busy bags for your use during services. We also invite your children to Sunday School which occurs prior to worship at 8:45 AM.

Where do I park?

If you are coming from the North on SW 9th, you can turn right on Maish Avenue and our parking lot is located behind our building. If you are coming from the South on SW 9th, you will need to turn left onto Watrous Avenue, right on Glover, and then right onto Maish Avenue. Our main entrance is located right off the parking lot.

What do I wear?

At Good Shepherd, you’ll see everything from suits to T-shirts and shorts. Wear what makes you feel comfortable—you’re among family here!

How can I get connected?

We'd love to hear from you! You can connect with us through email or a phone call. We'd also love to connect through social media. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram or sign up to receive our e-news!
